OPAL 2016

This summer, all of the incoming Global UGRAD participants took part in the Online Professional and Academic Learning Course (OPAL). OPAL was a seven-week online course developed and administered by the World Learning Global UGRAD team that covered a wide range of topics and themes that participants will most likely encounter during their time on the program.

The OPAL course was strongly received by this year’s participants, which showed through in their commentary, discussion threads, and the module assignments that they completed. Around 94% (237) participants successfully completed the course; of these, 156 successfully completed every module and will receive a certificate of completion with a gold seal. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about their personality during the self-assessment module as well as gained feedback about their resumes during the resume building module. Each participant set individual program goals for themselves and learned more about giving back to their communities through the social entrepreneurship lesson.

A total 77% of participants found the information provided in the seven modules very useful and were most likely to use the information they learned in the course during the program. Over 50% of participants found the course material unique and stated it was their first time being exposed to some of the concepts. World Learning looks forward to using this feedback to continue improving upon the OPAL course content for future Global UGRAD cohorts!
