UGRAD Post

Dear UGRAD Post,

September 8, 2012 is a day I will never forget. I visited one of the places I have always wanted to visit: Niagara Falls! The Center for International Education at Nazareth College organized a trip for all the international students to this Niagara Falls, located one hour and a half away from Rochester, NY. Eston, Lily and I were extremely happy about this trip; we couldn’t stop taking pictures! We took a boat and  came very close to the falls. Being ten meters away from the falls was an experience that I will never forget.  Besides being astonished by the impressive falls, I was also surprised by the quantity of foreigners that visit Niagara Falls. I enjoyed this experience a lot! – Diego Gomez Hernandez, Nazareth College

Dear UGRAD Post,

I have been having so much fun during my welcome week at Snow College. Students have a lot of activities for the first week such as: movie nights, football games, pre-game talks, mix and mingle meetings and so on.  I went to some of them.  The last activity of the week was a Foam Dance. I did not know what it was about. I asked some of my roommates and they did not know either. I googled it and I realized it was a party with a lot foam. Everyone was excited about the Foam Dance, especially me, because we do not have these types of dances in my country. My friends and I went there. We had a great time dancing and getting wet with foam all around. Moreover, I carried my UGRAD post with me protected with a plastic folder, because I wanted to share this new experience with all of you UGRADers. – Issis Castro, Snow College

Dear UGRAD Post,

Thai UGRADer, Warisa Piyanusorn and I went to the Minnesota State Fair, one of the largest fairs in the U.S., on August 31st.  This is the first photo we took the moment we got in.  Behind us is a mother cow that had just given birth to her calf. The whole process was recorded and was televised live on the screens above us. It was my first time seeing a black and white cow since cows in Malaysia are generally brown.  Also, while we may have similar, smaller-scaled fairs in Malaysia, this is the first time I witnessed cows brought to the fairs! Dear UGRAD Post,

During the last week in August, I had the opportunity to travel with all of the international students (and some American ones, too) to Clemson, SC, where we had the chance to challenge ourselves in an extreme way. We went up in the air seven meters high, and went through a ropes course with many obstacles that seemed very difficult, but not impossible to conquer. This experience helped me to learn how important it is for me to challenge myself to do things I wouldn’t think of doing in life. I thought “How many times will you have the chance to try this?” So I decided I had to do it and, with the support of my American and international friends, I did it. Remember, guys: enjoy your UGRAD experience TO THE FULLEST!
