Thailand Alumni Update: Chai Saelee Celebrates 200 Years of US-Thai Friendship

“Great and Good Friends: 200 Years of U.S.-Thai Friendship”

Chai Saelee meets the US Ambassador to Thailand at his home university, Mae Fah Luang University.

This year is the year that we celebrate the 200 years of friendship between the United States and the Kingdom of Thailand. The U.S. Embassy in Thailand and Mae Fah Luang University held a special presentation called “Great and Good Friends: 200 Years of U.S.-Thai Friendship” to commemorate the bicentennial of official contact between the United States and the Kingdom of Thailand and to establish a better understanding of the two countries.

After the presentation of the Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand H.E. Mr. Glyn T. Davies, I got a chance to meet with him and made a small talk about my valuable experience in the U.S. through the Global UGRAD Program from 2016 to 2017, which I had been awarded by the U.S. Department of State. Most excitingly, I was pleased and honored to be able to say “Thank you” to him in person for the award that I received from his hand last year. And, through my experience in the U.S., I have seen how great and good my American friends are. Plus, listening to the story of the U.S. and Thai relationship in the history made me miss all friendships that I have established in the U.S.
